There is a site called chatfofree . It’s free since they don’t ask you for your credit card number or for any other private information. They don’t even ask you for your name. All they ask is that you choose a nickname to enter the chat rooms.

You need to be 18 or more to enter those rooms.

Yahoo chat also allows you to chat for free unfortunately there are too many bots there. But it’s a very popular chat service. You could also try AIM chat which is free, you would need to register with AIM first.
